Training Your DJ’s & Staff
All our staff are W2 employees and work directly and only for Starshield Entertainment as entertainers
(1) Onboarding & Observation
It all begins with an interview and hiring. After being hired staff are invited to observe and join us at events from backyard parties to weddings. Don’t worry, they are not responsible for anything.. They just observe and understand what we do.
(2) Warehouse & Textbook
After observing a few events, they start the nitty gritty work. They learn our handbook, watch our training videos and begin the certification process. This can take from 1 - 3 months. While doing this, they are observing and joining us on events helping with equipment.. Etc.
(3) Exams & Practicals
After learning all the theory, trainees are instructed to perform tasks and are evaluated on the execution of them. Tasks include: announcements, organizing groups of people, ensuring timelines are explained, equipment is setup correctly, volume levels are appropriate. etc…
(4) Shadowing
Staff will being shadowing veteran DJS and begin doing simple tasks such as passive announcements etc. Trainees will begin actually evaluating our veteran DJs using the same forms our evaluator use. Trainees gain a deeper understanding as to how and why DJs do certain things through an event.
(5) Final Exam & Practicals
Trainees will finally start a Final phase where Starshield will book special “training” events where clients are fully aware they are booking someone coming off training for a deeply discounted rate. A veteran DJ is with them but the Trainee is now the lead.
(6) Level 1 DJ Assistant
After months to a year the Trainee starts as a level 1 DJ/Emcee. These staff are assistants at Weddings and Mitzvahs but leads on all other events such as fund raisers, corporate events, birthday parties and other detailed events.
